Dyslexia Assessment Centre South West


     A diagnostic assessment gives standardised scores required for Access Arrangements (exam concessions) for GCSE’s and A’Levels. If a pupil’s scores are below average then recommendations can be made to the exam board for extra time, the use of a Reader, Scribe or word processor.

What might be noticeable in Pupils at Secondary school. 
Do they:-

1. Still read inaccurately.
         

2. Still have difficulty with spelling.
         

3. Need to have instructions and telephone numbers repeated.
         

4. Get 'tied up' using long words, e.g. 'pacific', 'specific'.
         

5. Confuse places, times, dates.
         

6. Have difficulty with planning and writing essays.
         

7. Have difficulty processing complex language or
    long series of instructions at speed.
         

8. Have poor confidence and self-esteem.
         

9. Always have strengths as well as weaknesses.
