Welcome to the Dyslexia Assessment Centre in the South West

Jane Stewart-Forshaw BEd MEd Dip SpLD APC

Dyslexia is no barrier to succes but if it remains undiagnosed it can sabotage learning.

The Dyslexia Assessment Centre offers a full diagnostic assessment carried out in your own home for children, students and adults.

A full assessment plus report cost from £200 plus mileage. Under certain circumstances this fee can be spread out over four months at no extra cost.

The assessments are quickly followed by a detailed, comprehensive and jargon free, individual report.

An assessment by a specialist teacher produces legally recognised written evidence required to initiate additional support for children, examination concessions for teenagers, the Disabled Student Allowance for higher education students and reasonable adjustments for adults in the workplace.
Children, students and adults can feel quite concerned about having an assessment. They fear that they may not be dyslexic but are just not very bright or they will fail the tests and feel embarrassed and humiliated. However, each assessment starts with the taking of a developmental history and it is during this time that these fears are dealt with in a sympathetic way, so that individuals feel comfortable and relaxed.

An assessment very often brings relief and an understanding of difficulties so enabling the child, student or adult to move forward with renewed confidence.
